ESU is organising a manifestation in Sotckholm for the Christians in Iraq
STOCKHOLM 25th May 2008:
European Syriac Union organised, after the
demonstration in Brussels, another manifestation to draw the attention of the international governments and more particularly
the participants to ICI (International Compact with Iraq) on the situation
of the Christians in Iraq.
This time the manifestation was organised in Stockholm (Sweden)
on the 25th May. The intention was symbolic and political as the
United Nations organised the conference on Iraq in this city on May
29th. By organising this event ESU wanted once again to draw the
attention on the tragedy and ethnic cleansing going on against the
Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in Iraq. More than 1200 people were present to this manifestation. The following persons made a speech: All the guests and speakers insisted on the urgency to act and to
take actions to protect the Christians in Iraq and more particularly
the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people. The latters are facing
systematics attacks and many of their Church leaders have been killed
during the last few months. The speakers also insisted on the fact that the only
and viable solution is to settle an autonomous area for the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian
people in the North of Iraq. This is required in order to allow them
to continue to live in their historical homeland with their culture
and Christian faith. If nothing is done very quickly, the Christian faith and the
Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people will be wiped out from Mesopotamia
(Iraq).
